If Our Environment Is Sick, How Long Will It Take For Us To Be In The Same Predicament?

Like many of you, I am passionate about the quality of our environment. If it’s sick, then sooner or later we will be, too. So that brings me to asking, “What are you doing to live in harmony AND to improve your environment?”

While we often think that we are immune to our surroundings, we aren’t. If the air quality is poor, it is poor for all. If our water source is impure, so it is for everything in it and everyone using it.

As a Canadian I endeavour to do my job here as I am sure you do, too. We separate garbage into trash, organics, paper and cans/glass/plastics for recycling. Batteries and light bulbs, like paints, go into hazardous waste. We use natural cleaning supplies and our homes are becoming more environmentally sustainable.

People are making conscious decisions concerning when and how we commute. Others like doing home chores such as laundry during off-peak hours. I don’t know about you, but I know l could line dry more often!

Many are powering down and even unplugging electronics and other appliances when not in use as it helps reduce the power draw. Others are reusing cloth bags for groceries. The list is endless.

What about you? Share three or more things you do to help the environment — your environment!

Also, consider how you care for your body…inside and out.

Inside work might include a cleanse, increasing hydration, meditation, or a menu change to sustainable foods (organic where possible). Perhaps you have made a decision to avoid companies that do not support the health of the world.

Externally, what part can you play on a daily basis?

I love the tag line from Conservation International “Nature Doesn’t Need People. People Need Nature.” People need nature to thrive. It’s true for everyone, including you!

To consider the options available to help ourselves and our planet, listen to the short films narrated by Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, Harrison Ford, Robert Redford, Kevin Spacey, Ed Norton and others. Find out what you can do to make a difference and then take action to do your part!
