Better yet, what's a great day look like? "It is an awesome thing to comprehend that what a human being dreams and imagines can be realized"~ Vanna Bonta A good metaphor for a creating a great day is a creating a great harvest. Reaping the fruits of a fully grown plant first begins with planting a seed. This seed has requirements to develop into a fully mature plant. In creating a good or great day, we first plant our intention, then awareness on what we desire. Intention is the initial thought of what it is you want. It's the seed. Attention is placing an uncompromising conscious flow of … [Read more...]
D.E.N.I.A.L.
In November, I did an exercise on the subject of DENIAL. I looked in the mirror and asked myself, "Where am I currently fooling myself in life." Try it – there is no hiding when you look at yourself in the mirror. I then asked, "how is this serving me?" If we look at D.E.N.I.A.L. as an acronym it helped me get serious - fast. Didn't Even Know I Am Lying And, DENIAL is just that! We fool ourselves through all sorts of mental exercises like blame, justifications, rationalizations, and excuses. This stops the flow of energy to us and from us. In my case, I had committed in November to … [Read more...]
What if we ran our day on inspiration?
What if we ran our day on inspiration? Being "in-spirit". Being fully present with what is. Fully present and loving each moment? Would we see our day through a different lens Would we feel different? How would we act? When we are fully present and inspired, we lose track of time and space. It is as though we are aware of a greater connection to the "all". Our creativity soars. Our identity of self is temporarily lost because something is working through us. I find this happens when running through the woods on trails, when I kayak or scuba dive. It happens when I paint pastels or after … [Read more...]
SOS is the State of Stuck: Priorities
Part 4 of 4 We've looked previously at Clarity, Limiting beliefs, Implementation and Habit. Priorities and sticking to them is about staying focused and intending to stay on course through the day. See the blog on intention and where you your attention goes. There is a saying where attention goes, energy flows. In the dog world, all of us owners know and can predict the next action by looking at the focus of our pet. If they're turning their head looking at the squirrel... they will follow the squirrel. Their action follows their focus. During our day, things can come up: The kids need an … [Read more...]
3 Second Rule
I have a dog -- a big beautiful yellow Labrador retriever. I've had four other labs over the years. It’s a symbiotic relationship. I love him, he sheds. I train him, he’s defiant, especially with food. Labradors are garbage hounds. All of the things I’m told will harm him, well at some point he’s gotten into them. In our home we have the 3 second rule, which only dog lovers will appreciate. You drop any food and you have about 3 seconds to get it before the dog does. So you’ve gotta be quick. How can the 3 second rule apply in life? Ever said something that you wish you could take … [Read more...]
Intention or Attention – Whatever!
Are you hearing a lot more on these two words? What’s the difference? And, why are they even important? Have you ever been caught in a sailboat with no wind? You’re left to drift according to the current and there’s not much you can do as you are at the whim of the water. How many people are in their sailboat called life with no wind but do not know it? How about a day in your life where you strayed, got totally off course? Perhaps experienced a day where you had no direction? You woke up, had no real purpose for the day and it just went by. There was no real meaning to the day. That’s the … [Read more...]
