I think I can speak for many that a number of good intentions arise with New Years. I'll drop 10 pounds… I'll start to exercise more… I'll commit to meditation.... Stop drinking for a month... We’ve certainly heard them, perhaps made some and for some of us perhaps missed our target and fallen off the commitment by January 7th. I've never been a great fan of New Years resolutions because I think we commit to them at a poor time. Life is super busy, kids are at home for a few more days, friends are around, holiday cleanup starts and many of us are tired from the deviation of usual … [Read more...]
Getting Stuck
A few weeks ago it was really difficult to blog about anything. Nothing was coming to me and I post only after being inspired to write something. For one month, writing just wasn't working for me. While initially it bothered me due to self-imposed deadlines for my weekly posts, I did something different. I just "let it go". I figured I wouldn’t post a blog for however long it took. After all if nothing was coming to me, I should listen to that. Right? So after 3 weeks of nothing, I began a few different meditations and tried one by Dr. Joe Dispenza. The words came pouring out of me and I … [Read more...]
Does Asking Make you Vulnerable?
For many years, especially pre-internet, in retrospect my own progress was slowed somewhat by not asking for help. That's self-judgement to be sure and life unfolds no matter what. However, if I can shed some light to help others facilitate themselves more efficiently, then I figure that's a good thing to share. When I got stuck and didn’t ask for help it was because when I did, I felt others would see me as not being smart or needy. Whether real or imagined, it was important for me to be independent, look smart, not make mistakes-ever (which of course I have). Now I know I am very capable … [Read more...]
Supported or not – who is in your life?
Sometimes we have others in our lives who do not support our growth. List 3 or more people who’d like to keep you just as you are. Perhaps they’d not support your big ideas, dreams and aspirations. 1) 2) 3) How can you ask them to support you in an empowering way? What have they taught you so far about yourself, relationships or life? Something will be there, even if it is discerning what you might not want. If they truly do not support you, might it be time to let them go? If so, when? While it might be uncomfortable, deep down I believe the other party already knows they are not helping. Who … [Read more...]
Mastery for the Best Version of You
I love this passage so much that I am quoting it in its entirety. It reminds me that we are all born a winner. I’ve learned so much from Stewart Emery since the 1980’s and each paragraph speaks to me. Enjoy... “Mastery in one’s career and conscious growth simply requires that we constantly produce results beyond and out of the ordinary. Mastery is a product of consistently going beyond our limits. For most people, it starts with technical excellence in a chosen field and a commitment to that excellence. If you are willing to commit yourself to excellence, to surround yourself with things that … [Read more...]

Avocado and Egg Combo with a Twist
Recipe with Avocado and Egg : Prep: 1 minute 1 avocado semi-ripe, peeled, halved and stone removed 2 eggs 2 cups arugula washed and dried Your favourite spices - I like cumin, chili powder, curry, sea salt, pepper 1/4 lemon and 1 tsp balsamic vinegar While heating a nonstick fry pan or use a healthy oil, cut an avocado to remove the outside fleshy part leaving a 3/4 cm piece for the egg to fit into the hole left from the stone. You will use the discarded piece with the arugula later. Place the avocado into the hot pan and immediately break the eggs into each "hole" followed by adding … [Read more...]
A moment of Alice in Wonderland
I was attending a spiritual retreat last week on an island and one exercise we were asked to do was to bring a special stone that had one pointy end. We threw the stone and were to follow the direction of the point when it landed. So off I went. “Begin at the beginning,” the King said, very gravely, “and go till you come to the end: then stop.” 1 I felt like Alice heading down a rabbit hole. I was led in a direction to a place where everything seemed out of place. A path of moss along a tree... A stone held in the air by an uprooted tree... A broken down cottage roof, a chair with no seat. All … [Read more...]
drLiz’s fabulous organic nut & seed granola – no peanuts, no gluten
Why is this in the Best Version of You? Well, not only are we what we think say and do, we are also what we eat. So when you look at your menu - what are you made up of? Is what you eat life enhancing or "the opposite"? What's your best version constructed by? So here is a great snack or addition to any salad. Remember ounce for ounce, seeds are powerful for their concentrated nutrient punch. You can change up the nuts and seeds with whatever you wish to try but I find this a good combination. Personally I avoid peanuts due to the higher concentration of carcinogenic fungus – aflavotoxin … [Read more...]
Are YOU Good or Great – Better or Best
We hear the enemy of great is good. It's "good enough" repeated almost as a mantra. It you catch yourself saying it's good enough what do you mean by that? Do you mean "that's all the effort I am going to put into it right now"? It's enough to get by? Is "good enough" a default excuse for not fully being engaged? Is it due to time or resource constraints? But what if it was great? What if you added one more degree of "oomph" to it? Water is well just really, really hot at 99/211 degrees C/F but steam at 100/212. Only one degree difference powers steam engines like locomotives. "Good enough" … [Read more...]
